There is a whole array of behaviors to watch out for if you feel that there may be something wrong with your loved one. Examine the list below. If you are beginning to notice a pattern, it is time to think about drug and alcohol rehabilitation to assist your loved one on to the road to recovery.
Change in friends, or antisocial behavior
Change in mode of dress
Lack of interest in hobbies or activities they used to love
Criminal or thrill-seeking behavior
Talk of suicide
Apathy
Violent acting out
Bingeing or not coming home
Dishonesty/stealing
Trace amounts of substances being left around
Drug paraphernalia left around the house
These are a sampling of many warning signs, but they are among the most common indicators that someone may be developing a problem with drugs and/or alcohol. This is a crucial time, and time is of the essence. Make sure that you approach the issue gently; research some methods of approach before you begin talking with your loved one. Addiction is a disease that keeps the addict in a state of denial, and they may be resistant to your efforts to help them. You cannot force them to seek help, but being sensitive to their plight may just make a difference in saving their lives.

Pat,
Sorry for such a delayed response. We are both plenty busy with work and school but still on our honeymoon as far as we’re concerned :)

Things couldn’t have been better in St. Lucia. Smuggler’s managed to upgrade our room and even threw in a Fruit basket and bottle of Champagne to top it all off. Plenty of good food and entertainment. We played Tennis, had a great time sailing with the wind from the Atlantic, did some weightlifting and even learned how to Windsurf. We managed to snorkel almost every day of the honeymoon and saw plenty of colorful fish, eels, crab, and sea creatures. Katie even spotted a Baracuda before it managed to speed off into the Atlantic Ocean again. Her second sighting since she was a little girl with her parents in the BVI’s. I’m sure it was just as frieghtened at the sight of us as Katie was! All I heard was a muffled underwater shreek.
The trip was filled with excitement and we did manage to go on an adventure jeep excursion trip to see some of the island life and highlights. The local bus was also a pretty neat experience and MUCH cheaper then the taxi’s. Flights worked great and our 8 hour layover in Puerto Rico on the way home was just perfect for what we wanted to do in P.R. Shopped around, checked out the castle and ate at a traditional P.R. resturaunt before catching the plane home.
Pat, Thank you for working with me. It really was better then I could have imagined. Katie and I were just so happy to be able to share such a fantastic place with each other for our honeymoon.
Picture’s attached…
Sincerely, Greg and Katie Powell
